Tampa SEO Explorers The Effect Social Media Has
On Your SEO Rankings
Google has started to do some changing on how it calculates your websites ranking. We’ve seen that Social Media is playing a much bigger part of SEO ranking factors than before 2011. Taking another look at the SEOMoz study 2011 Search Engine Ranking Factors, we have had another expert at Tampa SEO create two SEO graphs for us that effectively illustrate some of the changes we’re seeing to SEO.
Part of this study that was done is about the effect of social media on your SEO rankings. As part of this study they took a look at what parts of social media affect your website SEO rankings. The graph shows the affect that each of these things have on your SEO ranking. Here are some of the key findings of the SEOMoz SEO study:
1.Facebook shares have a higher impact on
your SEO rankings than posts from Google Buzz or Twitter
If your business has clients/customers a relationship with them is very important, engaging your customers through Facebook would be a great way to reach them. Studies show that it costs a fraction to retain customers than it does to find new customers, so customer retention is super important.
2. Your customers want to be engaged with, not advertised to.
Through Social Media you can interact with your customers in a new and exciting way. Finding out key areas that your customers are interested in will be very important and helpful. Being able to interact with them is a key thing to be able to do for any business. If you have a Facebook or Twitter account for your business do not I repeat DO NOT spam them with useless things like “Check Out Our Website Today!” or “Come Look At Our Website”. While they sound interesting to you, they really don’t do anything for your customer except annoy them.
3. Facebook posts will be much more affective than posts that are
on Twitter or Google Buzz.
The graph below shows us the influence on links shared via social media ways. What this basically means is that the graph below shows you what happens when well-known people (people have a lot of followers or friends) post links on Twitter, Facebook, and Google Buzz.
4. Having your website tweeted by someone well known will have a
better impact on your SEO rankings.
