As an SEO Agency we like to update our clients and potential clients on the changes to Facebook and other relevant social media sites. As there are many businesses out there who have a Facebook account but never get around to actually updating it you will want to be aware that Facebook will be changing brands’ pages to the new Timeline format regardless of whether they consent or not. Rather than sitting around and waiting for Facebook to make the changes it is more advantageous to do it yourself so that it represents your professional image and gives the impression you want. If you don’t do it yourself, you will be leaving it up to Facebook.

What To Make of It

At Tampa SEO we personally are embracing the changes as many of our clients are seeing increases in interaction due to the new Timeline. There are other companies that have said they dislike the changes as their Facebook fans are older users and don’t adapt well to change.

Facebook’s Timeline Impact

According to a study done by Virtue, about ¾ of brands still have not switched over to the new timeline. That means only about 25% of brands are utilizing the changes which is important for consumer engagement if you look at the next study:

According to a study by Simply Measured, brands that have implemented the new Timeline are getting more engagement per post than brands that have not. Here is a breakdown of the numbers:

Average Engagement Per Post: An increase of 46%

Before Timeline Launch:                1,672

Since Timeline Launch:                  2,441

Fan Engagement Rate (Annualized): An increase of 14%

Before Timeline Launch:                14%

Since Timeline Launch:                  16%

What is also impressive is that brands have seen a 65% increase in interactive content such as photos or videos. Also up is link engagement, meaning more people are visiting the landing pages proposed by brands.

What Are Some of Interesting Features?

Profile Photo and Cover Photo– the profile photo gives you the opportunity to place your logo that people associate with your company. The cover photo, although containing limitations, allows you to make your brand more visually appealing.

Timeline Apps– allows brands to display their most prominent information in this easy to navigate area.

Messages– fans now have the opportunity to message brands directly.

Milestones– you can tell your brands story with the Milestones features which also allows pictures.

There are a ton of other features that Facebook is changing and updating so it will be wise to pay attention if you have a client-base on Facebook. If you are too busy or don’t know the first place to begin, contact an SEO Agency who can align your social media efforts with the corporate image your brand wishes to portray.
